Respectfully disagree with Alam. It is a misconception that there is a narrow set of behaviors that constitute "acting like a man." Men come in all shapes and sizes and exhibited a multitude of behaviors. In my opinion, it would be more appropriate for people who state they want a "straight-acting" man to actually say, I want a man who demonstrates stereotypical masculine behavior. But I do believe that homophobia is at the core of this desire, in that what people are truly seeking when they say "straight-acting" is someone who "nobody would suspect could be gay."
